Kurzfassung
Die Drifttypen der Organismen der Fließgewässer werden nicht einheitlich und schlüssig definiert. Die bisherige Terminiologie ist häufig dem Anschaulichen verhaftet. Sie läßt bestimmte Effekte (z. B Katastrophen-Drift) vermuten, die nicht durch Analysen belegt sind. Es wird vorgeschlagen, bei der Drift der Simuliidae zwischen einer "permanenten Drift" und einer "aperiodischen Translokation" zu unterscheiden. Diese eindeutige Begriffsbestimmnung ist für die intra- und interspezifische Strukturanalyse des Driftkomplexes der Fließwasserorganismen notwendig.
Abstract
As to hitherto literature, there exists neither an exact characterisation nor an uniform definition for the various types of organismic drift in running waters. Especially, this holds true for the terms "catastrophic drift" and "behavioural drift" which, because of their infered meaning, are critically re-evaluated. The abolition of this terminology is put forward. With biological, ethological and ecological considerations in mind, it is here suggested that within the phenomenon drift one must distinguish between "(permanent) dispersion" and "(aperiodic) translocation". The basic meaning of a stringent terminology and the definition of terms concerning the drift complex are explained in detail for an intra- and interspecific structural analysis of drifting organisms in running water.
