Abstract

The paper by Gilluly, published in Economic Geology, touches one of the most important questions in mineral exploration. Gilluly has reached the pessimistic conclusion that "the value of lineaments as guides to ore is virtually negligible". I have spent the last ten years studying the structural control of ore deposition in different areas ranging from a mining level to a broad regional scale. My experience suggests that structural control of ore deposition plays an important role on different scales and helps efficiently in the search for unknown concentrations of endogenic ores.
