Abstract

With 4 figures Abstract: The scientific relations of German and Soviet geologists followed the tradition of two past centuries. The leader of the German tectonic school Hans Stille had direct contacts with Soviet colleagues. His concepts have much influenced Soviet researches in geotectonics but were not officially recognized due the political reasons.
