Abstract
The authors discuss the evolution of ore-concentrating lineaments, using the Transasiatic Lineament in the Siberian platform, and the lineaments of the Aldan-Stanovoy region and the Ukrainian shield as examples. The manifestation of these lineaments in the Archean is described, as well as changes in their tectonic nature and in the character of the associated endogenous processes as occurring during subsequent geological epochs. The confinement of ultrabasic and alkaline-ultrabasic magmatism to these lineaments indicates the role of the mantle in the development of these structures which control the distribution of major ore deposits. The gradually increasing role of alkalies and other incoherent elements, in particular carbon derivatives, as observed in the endogenous products, reflects penetration of the ore-concentrating lineaments through the deeper, abyssal regions of the mantle.
