Abstract

OUTLOOK In addition to the papers presented at the Colloquium, Professor Kravchenko has submitted preliminary version of two manuscripts for the IAGODICTOD project: 1. Evolution of mantle magmatism. 2. Spreading mantle convection cells as the main force driving the lithospheric plates. The author was invited to prepare a final form of his papers for publication. The discussion of this very interesting, but difficult topic is postponed until the above papers are submitted and edited. The abstract of the paper on the Tomtor Massif does not include criteria suggesting a relation of the massif to a corner of convective cell. The author is asked to include the criteria in one of his forthcoming manuscripts. A recommendation, which perhaps everybody who has heard above lectures may share, is to focus future studies on selected areas, combining geological, geophysical and geochemical criteria to reveal the controls on large metal concentrations. A systematic analysis can be performed through a program recently offered by the IAGOD/CTOD WG1: "The Relationships Between Metal Concentration and Deep Structure of the Lithosphere". 19 0163-31 71 /96/006-0019 $ 0. 90 © 1996 E.
