Abstract
This paper is a contribution to the discussion of granulite terminology initiated by BEHR et al. (1971). It presents a definition of the term granulite which is intended to be useful as a field name, and to cover a group of regional metamorphic rocks not included by such terms as gneiss, schist and amphibolite. The definition is discussed with reference to the original of BEHR et al., and the comments on that note. Some general comments on granulite textures are also included.
