Short Communication - Note on the mineral rathite-IV

Ozawa, T.; Nowacki, W.

Abstract

Several kinds of minerals which belong to a group of lead sulfarsenites called “rathite group” have been found in Lengenbach quarry (Ct. Wallis, Switzerland) and crystallographically investigated. The existence of two common periods of about 7.9 Å and 8.4 Å is a marked characteristic of them. The crystallographic relationship among minerals in this group was clearly explained based on Ito’s theory of polysynthetic twinning (Takéuchi, 1970). The mineral rathite-IV was first found also in the same locality, and briefly reported (Nowacki, Marumo & Takéuchi, 1963; Marumo, Nowacki & Takéuchi, 1964). According to those descriptions, rathite-IV is a mineral with a 140.42 Å period.
