Abstract

The name tangeite has been formally accepted by the CNMMN of the IMA for the mineral with formula CaCu(OH)VO4 and type locality Tange ravine, Tyuya Muyun, Ferghana district, Turkestan. The name calciovolborthite, up to now generally used as synonym of tangeite, identifies the mineral from Friedrichsroda, Thuringia exhibiting a substantially different chemical composition.
