Abstract
The author (Wolfart 1994: 68-78) described a new trilobite genus Scottia from the Middle Cambrian of North Victoria Land, Antarctica. Palaeontologist Dr. H. Malz drew the author's attention to the fact that this generic name had earlier been used by Brady & Norman 1889 (in Moore (Ed.): Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology, Q, Arthropoda 3, Ostracoda, 1961: Q227) for an ostracod genus of the Superfamily Cypridacea. The author proposes a new name, Ganovexopyge n. gen. Wolfart, a name to replace the pre-occupied Scottia. Derivatio nominis: The Middle Cambrian fossil assemblage described by Wolfart 1994 was collected by German members of the GANOVEX III expedition 1982/83 to North Victoria Land, Antarctica.
