Abstract
Dealing with climatic data derived from 42 weather stations located in the Temperate Chilean territory and applying recent bioclimatic models based on Rivas-Martínez proposals (www.globalbioclimatics.org), climate-vegetation relations in the Chilean Temperate macrobioclimatic territory are synthesized, although striking shortage of stations which can reflect main climatic traits in mountainous areas is emphasized. Chilean temperate climate is featured by means of 3 conclusions derived from their peculiarity: strong oceanity. This character is the main reason of asymmetric distribution of vegetation, as well is direct causing of lower thermicity which can be quantified by the smaller effectiveness of summer; finally, it makes more difficult any arithmetical pattern about thresholds values between bioclimatic belts. Nevertheless we comment on validity of a native forest community as bioindicator of Orotemperate belt.
