Abstract
The synthesis of two phytocoenological gardens by Reinhold Tüxen in Germany three decades ago has been little noticed, although it in fact was an experimental verification of the theories and methods of this mainly descriptive approach to vegetation science. The details of the establishment of these gardens are reviewed and the possible significance of this venture of applied phytocoenology for various reclamation, recreational and educational activities is discussed.
