Kurzfassung
Die Stufenfolge zwischen dem Obersilur und Unterkarbon im Unterharz konnte durch die Arbeiten der letzten Jahre nahezu vollständig belegt werden. Für das Mittel- und Oberdevon sind im Raum der westlichen Harzgeröder Zone unterschiedliche, in sich konsistente und räumlich getrennte Faziesreihen zu erkennen, die sich den paläogeographisch wirksamen Elementen "Becken" und "Schwelle" zuordnen lassen. Die Rekonstruktion der eigentlichen Schichtenfolge und der ursprünglichen Paläogeographie ist aber oft durch Schlammstrom-Sedimentation und durch tektonische Überprägung stark behindert.
Abstract
The biostratigraphical investigations during the last decades led to a nearly complete documentation of the stages from the Upper Silurian to the Lower Carboniferous in the Lower Harz Mountains; Areas of different facies development during the Middle and Upper Devonian can be distinguished in the western Harzgeröder Zone. They are related to troughs and submarine rises. Because of the influence of large olisthostromes and of the tectonical deformation the reconstruction of the original stratigraphical sequence and of the paleogeographical pattern often appears to be very difficult.
