Kurzfassung
Der Abgrabungsbegriff erweist sich für die Anthropogeologie und Anthropogeomorphologie als ein sehr nützlicher und zentraler Terminus. Er erlaubt, alle übertägigen anthropogenen Gesteinsentnahmen aus der Erdkruste unabhängig von Materialart, Intention, angewandter Technik oder geltender Rechtsnorm zusammenzufassen und die damit in Zusammenhang stehenden Oberflächenveränderungen in ihrer Gesamtheit anzusprechen. In den mitteleuropäischen Kulturlandschaften übersteigen heute die durch Abgrabungen verursachten Reliefveränderungen und Materialtransporte in Qualität und Quantität bei weitem jene, die durch die natürlichen erosiven Prozesse hervorgerufen werden. Für das Niederrheinische Tiefland wird -- differenziert nach Abgrabungsarten -- eine Zusammenstellung (Tab. 1) über das Ausmaß der abgegrabenen Rächen vorgelegt.
Abstract
In the field of anthropogeology and anthropogeomorphology the term "Abgrabung" (extraction, excavation) seems to be very useful and of great significance. It allows all opencast anthropogenic extractions from the earth crust as well as all surface alterations resulting from them to be dealt with, no matter what sort of material is extracted, what purpose it is used for, which technique is applied or what the abiding law is. In the present Middle European man-modified landscapes both the alterations of relief and removal and transfer of materials due to extractions are of far greater importance -- as to quality and volume -- than those caused by natural erosional processes. In the paper underlying this summary the extent of the surface areas modified by extractive activities is discussed and exemplefied at the Lower Rhine Lowlands.
