Abstract

While it is unusual to review journal articles, the volume “Recent Crustal Movements“ is rather special, constituting the Inter-Union Commission on Geodynamics, Scientific Report no. 15. It also represents the collected papers of one of the symposia at the last IUGG meeting (in Grenoble, France, August 1974), organized by the Commission on Recent Crustal Movements of the International Association of Geodesy. Geomorphologists may appreciate that there is also a rather kindred group in INQUA, the Commission on Neotectonics, and some interaction between the two is ensured by certain common memberships (e. g. the secretary of the latter is G. J. Lenson of the Geological Survey of New Zealand). This reviewer is also a member of the latter and assisted the formation of the original IAG Commission in Helsinki, 1960; he is currently in charge of a subcommittee preparing neotectonic maps of North America.
