Abstract
We record, with deep regret, the death of André Cailleux, member of our editorial board (since 1957). He was born in Paris, on Christmas Eve, 24 December 1907, and lived most of his life within a few kilometers of his birthplace. His death, at St. Nazaire, was on 27 December, 1986. He had a great sense of history, and occasionally would write under the ancestral name of de Cayeux de Sénarpont. His father was a meteorologist, René de Cayeux de Sénapont, and his mother, to whom he was very devoted, was née Aline Philippe. André was married on 4 August 1931 to Mlle. Anne de Lavenne de la Montoise, with whom he had twelve children. When they were growing up and demanding transportation, it is said that André once ordered half-a-dozen “Deux-Chevaux” at the same time from an astonished car dealer. At any rate they were frequently parked all around the front garden of their spacious home at 9 Ave de La Tremoille, in St. Maur-des-Fosses.
