Abstract
Peat deposits within the largest pingo extended to a maximum depth of 400 cms. Pollen analysis of samples from different depths was undertaken in order to attempt an approximate zonation by comparison with established pollen for this part of Britain. This way an estimation of the earliest period of peat formation was made giving therefore an upper limit to the age of the pingo.
