Abstract
This paper presents the development of the human zygomatic bone in phases of ontogenesis covering the period from the 4th month of fetal life up to full maturity. Results of the research showing dynamics of the human zygomatic bone development in various periods of ontogenesis are compiled in the Tables 1-5. These results can be useful for estimating the approximate age of fetuses and children in cases of partially damaged skeletons. They may be also of great importance for the analysis of skeletal remains from cremation cemeteries.
Kurzfassung
Diese Arbeit stellt die Entwicklung des Os zygomaticum in der Ontogenese vom vierten Fetalmonat bis zur vollständigen Ausreifung dar. Die Ergebnisse der Wachstumsdynamik in verschiedenen Perioden der Ontogenese werden tabellarisch dargestellt. Diese Befunde können Verwendung finden bei der Abschätzung des Alters von Feten und Kindern, wenn das Skelett teilweise beschädigt ist, und ebenfalls bei der Untersuchung von Leichenbränden.
