Trophic interactions between fish in their first year of life
(i. e. the age-0 group) as predators and zooplankton as their prey
have been a main topic of limnological investigations during the last
two decades. Consequently, the idea was born to organise a workshop
where specialists from both the fish and zooplankton sides of
limnology should discuss their research results and summarise the
state if the art. A suitable frame for this workshop was found within
the Plankton Ecology Group (PEG).
The PEG was held in Dresden with 42 participants from 12 countries. 12
papers presented in this issue span the whole range of topics
discussed during the 3 days of the meeting.
