Abstract
The age, growth and feeding of Barbus albanicus STEINDACHNER, in the Kremasta reservoir was studied on monthly samples during 1982. B. albanicus is characterized by a low rate of growth and a wide feeding niche. Disintegrated plant material predominates over animal organisms. The feeding habits and the reproductive adaptability (partial spawning) of the species, the lack of potential competitors and the absence of fishing mortality, reveal that B. albanicus may attain a high population abundance in the Kremasta Lake.
