Abstract

The Rotifer fauna of some standing water bodies in and around Mexico City was studied in relation to water quality. A list of species found was supplemented with the quantitative data of saprobic valence, indicative weight of species and individual saprobic index. Collotheca riverai from the Reservoir Valle de Bravo was described as new for science. Because the subtropical climate is in Mexico compensated by the high altitude, the rotifers show on the Altiplanicio Central the same saprobiological characteristics like in Central Europe.
