Recent and fossil slugs of the genus Parmacella in the Canary Islands, with the description of three new species (Pulmonata: Parmacellidae)

Abstract
A review is given of the species of Parmacella occurring in the Canary Islands. Three recent and two fossil species are recognized. Parmacella (Parmacella) tenerifensis occurs on Tenerife only. The endemic subgenus Cryptella is represented by the living P. canariensis on Lanzarote, with a subspecies P. canariensis auriculata on Fuerteventura where specimens were collected alive 125 years ago, and by P. tamaranensis n. sp. on Gran Canaria, where living slugs were found about 100 years ago; the species may now be extinct. New material referable to P. callosa shows that this taxon was obviously based on a teratological shell of P. canariensis. Two fossil species are also assigned to the subgenus Cryptella: Parmacella parvula n. sp. from Tertiary sediments of western Fuerteventura and P. susannae n. sp. from Quaternary sediments of Jandia Peninsula.
Kurzfassung
Es wird eine Übersicht der auf den Kanarischen Inseln vorkommenden Arten von Parmacella gegeben. Drei rezente und zwei fossile Arten werden definiert. Die große und auffällige Parmacella (Parmacella) tenerifensis kommt nur auf der Insel Teneriffa rezent vor. Die endemische Untergattung Cryptella ist mit 4 Arten vertreten. Rezent kommt P. canariensis auf Lanzarote vor, mit einer Unterart P. canariensis auriculat auf Fuerteventura, wo vor 125 Jahren lebende Exemplare gefunden wurden; auf Gran Canaria lebt(e) P. tamaranensis n. sp., von der lebende Tiere vor rund 100 Jahren gesammelt wurden. An neuem Material von P. callosa kann gezeigt werden, daß dieser Name offensichtlich auf ein mißgebildetes Schälchen von P. canariensis gegründet wurde. Zwei neue fossile Arten werden ebenfalls zur Untergattung Cryptella gerechnet: Parmacella parvula n. sp. wird aus tertiären Sedimenten W-Fuerteventuras und P. susannae n. sp. aus quartären Sedimenten der Halbinsel Jandia beschrieben.
