Abstract
We resolve nomenclatural issues with 2 fossil helicoid land-snail species. We introduce Helix kadolskyi nom. nov. as the replacement name for Helix toulai Kojumdgieva, 1969 (non Schlosser, 1907), a Late Miocene species from Bulgaria. Moreover, we determine that the Middle Eocene Helix edwardsi Deshayes, 1863 (non H. edvardsi Bland, 1858) does not require a replacement name. To fix name-bearing types, we designate a lectotype for Helix edwardsi Deshayes. Furthermore, we discuss the systematic position of H. edwardsi (?Sphinterochilidae) and introduce the monotypic Hartmutix gen. nov. for it. Archaeoxesta pelecystoma Neuenhaus, 1909, the type species of Archaeoxesta Neuenhaus, 1909, in which H. edwardsi was previously classified, is considered a taxon inquirendum.
