Abstract
Carl Hildebrand Lindroth, born on September 8, 1905, at Lund/Sweden, deceased there on February 23, 1979, at the age of 73. As Full Professor of Entomology at the University of Lund and (honorary) member of the permanent Committee of the International Congresses of Entomology, he was a world-wide known and ' highly esteemed colleague and scientist. The main aspects and results of his zoogeographical research and his studies on ground beetle ecology, behaviour and systematics (Coleoptera: Carabidae) are reported as well as his major scientific ambitions, modes of analytic and descriptive investigations, and high awards. The most important of his publications are enumerated. The present three-issue-edition of Entomologia Generalis is dedicated to him in memory and with gratitude.
