Abstract

In a pine plantation in Lower Saxony (F. R. Germany), forest fires effected the extinction of the invertebrate fauna. Pioneers on the burned areas were Ephydridae (Diptera), Lathridiidae (Coleoptera), and Sminthuridae (Collembola). These were followed by zoophagous species of Carabidae and Pythidae (Coleoptera). The investigation of the further resettlement succession will be continued for some more years.
