Abstract
Mixed-crystals of the spinel solid solution series MgFe2O4-MgAl2O4 synthesized at 1330° C in air exhibit positive excess volumes. The position of the absorption bands in their infrared spectrum, for which a tentative assignment is given, strongly depends on composition. If a solvus exists in this system, its critical temperature must be at temperatures below some 950° C.
