Introducing Michael Kosinowski – Incoming Chief Editor of Newsletters on Stratigraphy

Lüttig, Gerd

Abstract

After having brought the scientific journal “Newsletters on Stratigraphy” into being about 33 years ago, the Chief Editor made up his mind to withdraw from – as people say these days – the operational business. The reader will not have to fear any break in continuity due to the changeover, because the editing, printing and publication of NoS are in the hands of a team, the managing board and publishing house, who are perfectly attuned to mutual cooperation free of friction. The work has always been done by these trustworthy hands, so that the customer will hardly notice any transition. On the other hand, this change is a kind of time-marker. The most important thing is that the changeover is done as smoothly as possible. There is, however, a necessary formality: We must find a new captain of the NoS ship, a new Chief Editor. And in our case it is essential that the candidate possesses certain prerequisites. The following are what the publisher and the other Editors expect: In view of the aim of the Newsletters, he should be closely acquainted with the field of stratigraphy, he should have a good sense of scientific management and be supported by an efficient infrastructure, and, of course, he should be young enough to remain in command for quite a few years.
