Abstract
The ontogeny of leaf formation during was studied in over 40 species of the Apioideae Drude (Apiaceae). The processes resulting in marked heterophylly represent rather different ontogenetical types. The difference is in the order of the points of attachment of leaflets originating at rachises of the compound leaves. We propose to distinguish five types of heterophylly within the Apioideae: Apium-, Levisticum-, Conium-, Petroselinum- and Chervil-type.
