Abstract
Peatland degradation destroys the habitats of rare and endangered plants, which is reflected in the decrease of their local range. This paper discusses how the distribution of the vascular plant species Carex pulicaris and Pedicularis sceptrum-carolinum has changed in Western Pomerania, Poland, since the 19th century. These species are especially affected by peatland melioration and the resulting encroachment by tall perennials and shrubs.
