Abstract
The phytocoenonia (list of plant communities with brief definitive descriptions) of the Gairloch area in North-west Scotland has been drawn up. The range in communities is from aquatic vegetation of the class Utricularieta intermedio-minoris to mature woodland of Querco-Fagetea. The relationship of each community with local relief, climate and soils is given.
