Abstract
A classification for European salt marshes has been drafted, based on the origin of the substrate, the main geological agency and the morphology in relation to the ecological conditions. The classification has been applied to the salt-marsh sites in the Council of Europe member states and Finland. The occurrence and areas of the types have been described.
Kurzfassung
Eine Klassifikation der europäischen Seemarschen wurde entworfen, indem der Ursprung des Substrats, die wesentlichsten geologischen Kräfte und die Geomorphologie in Beziehung zu den ökologischen Bedingungen gesetzt wurden. Die Klassifikation wurde angewendet auf Seemarschen im Gebiet der Europäischen Gemeinschaft und Finnlands. Das Vorkommen und die Ausdehnung der einzelnen Typen wurde beschrieben.
Résumé
Une classification des marais salés européens a été établie. Elle est basée sur l’origine du substrat, facteur géologique essentiel, et la morphologie en relation avec les conditions écologiques. La classification a été appliquée aux sites de marais salés dans les plays de la communauté européenne et en Finlands. Les caractéristique et l’extension de chaque type ont été décrites.
