Abstract
In the course of phycofloristic studies of lotic habitats in central Mexico, we have found a rich epiphytic flora of cyanophytes. Members of the chroococcalean families Xenococcaceae, Dermocarpellaceae, Hydrococcaceae, and Chamaesiphonaceae are among the most conspicuous blue-green epiphytes present. Of the six genera of Chamaesiphonaceae (sensu KOMÁREK et ANAGNOSTIDIS 1986) four occur in this region: Chamaecalyx, Chamaesiphon, Geitleribactron and Stichosiphon, amounting to 16 species to date. In this paper we present the species of the first three genera.
