Abstract
Abstract Raman spectra of anhydrous crystalline powders of U- and Th-bearing (La)-monazites were obtained. The data are interpreted in a systematic manner based on the known structures of these compounds. Variations of the vibrational-band frequencies with increasing Th-Ca and U-Ca substitutions in (La)-monazite are correlated for many of the observed bands
