Abstract
Function of the bog environment on population dynamics of the phytoplankton community was studied in Doh-Hoh-Numa Bog, Tsukuba Science City, Japan, as indicated by the phytoplankton growth. The influences of physicochemical and biological environmental factors were analyzed and discussed in relation to the growth rates of predominant phytoplankters, where the growth rate of each phytoplankton species was determined by both the in situ method and the simulated in situ method using a chemostat.
