Abstract
Philip W. Guild died Thursday, June 25, 1992 at his home in his retirement home in Punta Gorda, Florida. He was a long-time Washington, D.C. area resident and a Staff Geologist for the U. S. Geological Survey for more than 43 years. Phil - we all knew him as Phil - was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on October 28, 1915. He went to High school at Baltimore City College in 1928-1932, and then to John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1932-1936. He received his bachelor (1936) and doctorate (1947) degrees in geology from Johns Hopkins University.
