Kurzfassung
Persistenz-Vorhersagen von rotem Rauschen sind ein einfacher konzeptioneller Ansatz für die Untersuchung der Vorhersagbarkeit imperfekter Prognose-Modelle. Die Methoden der Analyse der praktischen Vorhersagbarkeit numerischer Wetterprognosen (NWP) und ihre Ergebnisse lassen sich damit exemplarisch nachvollziehen.
Abstract
Persistence forecasts in a red-noise atmosphere provide a conceptional model for the predictability analysis of imperfect forecasts. The methods applied in analysing numerical weather prediction (NWP) and the results obtained are qualitatively comparable with those of this conceptual model.
