Abstract

Palaeozoic, phyllitic slates from two cores drilled by the former SDAG Wismut in the North of the Erzgebirge Mountains (Germany, Saxony) yielded different microfossils (acritarchs, ?chitinozoans, scolecodonts, miospores and detritic material of plant and animal origin) preserved as coalified matter. In this paper, we compare the various preservation ofthe fossils as well as the different content in the samples. The investigated horizons are assigned to the Ordovician respectively to the Devonian and the geological consequences are discussed.
