Abstract

A new bryozoan genus with one new species is described from the Kukruse Stage (Sandbian, Ordovician) of Estonia: Toomipora kohtlaensis gen. nov., sp. nov. The new genus is placed in the Family Monticuliporidae (Trepostomata) and is characterized by the presence of biconvex cystiphragms and hemisepta-like projections in exozones. Function of these structures were apparently re-shaping and reducing of autozooecial living chamber space as well as strengthening of autozooecial wall. The described bryozoan developed encrusting and branched colonies with thin exozones.
