Abstract
Selected Paleocene holococcoliths were studied using mobile mounts, enabling detailed analysis of their structural units and optical properties. This study establishes five new holococcolith genera – Aplofoteino, Didimospyrgos, Diorofostoichos, Karoulilithos, and Perideraiolithos – along with five new species: Aplofoteino kokaksuensis, Didimospyrgos inciae, Diorofostoichos calisiriae, Karoulilithos ayseguliae, and Perideraiolithos seherae. Additionally, four new combinations are introduced: Diorofostoichos emrei, Octolithus duocavus, Octolithus jawzii, and Perideraiolithos ponticus. The study also briefly discusses the taxonomic and paleoenvironmental challenges of holococcoliths. Finally, the stratigraphic ranges of the newly described species and revised taxa are presented.
