Kurzfassung
Ein leicht herzustellendes Gerät, mit dem nach der Methode des »Jakob -Stabes« bzw. des »Bonner Profil-Stabes« Schichtmächtigkeiten bequem und genau gemessen werden können, wird beschrieben. Dieses (»Monningers Modell«) ist mit einer Libelle für die korrekte Einstellung des Neigungswinkels ausgerüstet. - Eine Fortentwicklung (das »Würzburger Modell«) kann für die Messung der Schichtmächtigkeit sowohl mit geneigtem Stab (wie bei den vorgenannten Geräten) als auch mit vertikalem Stab verwendet werden. Wird das Gerät in der vertikalen Position benützt, so kann der Stab auch durch eine Schnur ersetzt werden, und dies macht das Gerät besonders handlich. Das Würzburger Modell ist ein universelles Gerät für Winkelmessungen im Gelände, und es kann daher auch für andere Aufgaben als für Mächtigkeitsmessungen eingesetzt werden. Mit ihm kann das Messen von Strecken mit großer Genauigkeit schneller und bequemer durchgeführt werden als mit jedem anderen Hilfsmittel. Man kann mit ihm entfernte Punkte anpeilen, für diese die x- und y-Koordinaten errechnen und damit die Distanz zu weit entfernten Objekten messen, Karten anfertigen usw.
Abstract
One of the authors (W. M.) reinvented the "Jacob Staff" that was practically unknown in Germany. "Monningers Modell" uses a water level to determine the inclination of the staff and is easy to make. The other author (K. S.) then developed what is called the "Würzburger Modell". This can be used to measure the thickness of beds in the manner of the old Jacob staff (inclined staff), but it can also be used for the same purpose with the staff in a vertical position. This makes it possible to replace the staff by a string and this in turn makes it very easy to carry. The Würzburger Modell can be used to solve other problems involving the measuring of angles. It was tested to measure distances along a route and this proved to be easier and faster than any other method available to geologists and at the same time surprisingly accurate. It can also be used to take bearings on distant points. The x and y coordinates for those points then can be calculated, and they can be used to draw maps, measure distances to far objects, etc.
