Abstract
Six, radially arranged impressions of adductor muscle scars on steinkerns of Amphicostella sculpturata (POKORNÝ, 1951) (Thlipsuracea, Metacopina, Podocopida) from the lower Middle Devonian (Eifelian) of the Eifel Region agree entirely with the subcentrally situated, ornamental rosette interpreted as muscle scars. It makes an important generic character of Amphicostella Adamczak, 1968. This pattern is not homologous to the later appearing darwinulid muscle field and means, however, an early attempt to improve the, at this time still primitive, Palaeozoic adductor muscle scar model.
Kurzfassung
Sechs radial angeordnete Schließmuskel-Narben wurden entdeckt auf Steinkernen von Amphicostella sculpturata (POKORNY, 1951) (Thlipsuracea, Metacopina, Podocopida, Ostracoda) aus dem unteren Mitteldevon (Eifelium) der Eifel. Diese entsprechen genau der subzentral gelegenen, als Schließmuskel-Feld gedeuteten ornamentalen Rosette und stellen ein wichtiges Gattungsmerkmal von Amphicostella Adamczak 1968 dar. Dieses Muster ist nicht homolog dem später auftretenden darwinuliden Muskelfeld und bedeutet einen frühen Optimierungs-Versuch des sonst noch primitiven paläozoischen Adduktor-Felds.
