Abstract
The dental characters of Palaeospinacidae are reevaluated on the basis of new material recently collected in the Valanginian from Southern France. Contrary to Thies's claim, it is quite possible to distinguish different genera (Synechodus Woodward 1889, Palaeospinax Egerton 1872 and Paraorthacodus Glickman 1957) according to their tooth morphologies.
Kurzfassung
Der Zahncharakter der Palaeospinacidae wird an Hand von neuem, kürzlich aufgesammelten Material aus dem südfranzösischen Valanginium überprüft. Im Gegensatz zu Thies ist es durchaus möglich, verschiedene Gattungen (Synechodus Woodward 1889, Palaeospinax Egerton 1872 und Paraorthacodus Glickman 1957) zahnmorphologisch zu unterscheiden.
Résumé
Les caractères dentaires des Palaeospinacidae sont réévalués à la lumière d'un matériel nouveau récemment récolté dans le Valanginien du Sud de la France. Contrairement aux affirmations de Thies, il est tout à fait possible de distinguer les différents genres (Synechodus Woodward 1889, Palaeospinax Egerton 1872 et Paraorthacodus Glickman 1957) d'après leurs morphologies dentaires.
