205Pb detection: AMS and alternatives

Henning, W.

Abstract

Aspects of detecting and counting the number of radioactive 205Pb atoms contained in a geological sample of lorandite are discussed. In particular, technical progress in accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) of heavy radioisotopes and the prospects for use of laser techniques are reviewed and overall efficiencies estimated.
