Abstract
Three possible granulite definitions are considered acceptable: (1) anhydrous quartzo-feldspathic granofels, (2) anhydrous quartzo-feldspathic granofels and anhydrous gneiss, (3) anhydrous gneiss. Preference is given to the first. The third is thought the least suitable. If no international agreement can be reached on the granulite definition, the term should be abandoned altogether.
