Abstract
Geopora asiatica is described from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. This species can be separated from its closest relative, G. pinyonensis by its larger (25.5–27.4 × 13.6–14.4 µm) ascospores, wider paraphyses and smaller excipular hairs. Molecular phylogenetic analysis using nuclear ribosomal DNA sequences from the ITS region also supported this taxon as a distinct species.
