Abstract

The morphology of ascocarp development and cytology of ascus of Lembosina aulographoides is described. The taxonomy of this fungus is also discussed. The present study has shown that the ascocarp of this fungus is inverted, growing from the lower surface of the superficial shield as is characteristic of Microthyriales. The ascostroma is vegetative in origin and development is of the ‘pleospora type’. The chromosome number is n = 3.
