Forms of Gelidium caulacantheum
Chapman, V. J.
Abstract
During the course of revising the Gelidiaceae of New Zealand it became apparent that the species Gelidium caulacantheum existed in several reasonably distinct morphological forms. One of these had already been recognised by the late V. W. Lindauer and labelled by him variety pygmaeum. This variety, however, has never officially been described and validated. In view of the variability of the species it is perhaps better described as a variety for the time being. This account, therefore, extends that in Chapman, 1968, p. 97. No. account of the variety has been given in the N. Z. J. of Botany.
