Abstract

A new species which belongs to the family Dasycladaceae, the subfamily Acetabularioideae, the genus Acetabularia and the section Acetabuloides is described. It occurs in the British Solomon Islands (Guadalcanal Island). The new species is called Acetabularia haemmerlingi. It is similar to A. kilneri and A. dentata with respect to the shape of the rays. However, it is a different species because of the number of cap rays and the number of protuberances per segment of the corona superior.
