Abstract
Twelve chytrids were identified and reported from Nigeria for the first time. The chytrids were isolated from water and mud samples from four sampling stations around Ilorin Nigeria. The pollen of a Nigerian cycad Encephalartos barteri proved very effective for collecting chytrids. Four species were found to be mainly soil chytrids.
