Systematics of the genus Polystichum from the Himalayas

Abstract

Descriptions of 14 species of the genus Polystichum occurring in the Himalayas have been given. It has been found that the names P. aculeatum and P. setiferum are not valid for some Himalayan samples. The European plants bearing these names are much distinct from the Himalayan samples which have been confused with these European species. The names given to the Himalayan samples are P. indicum and P. nigropaleaceum for P. aculeatum and P. setiferum resepctively.
