Abstract
In the ponds of the “Waldviertel” (Austria) the dry summer 1982 caused lower pitches of the water-gauge. The relatively greater density of fishes was followed by an increased consumption, and, in connection, an inferior density of algae. On the other hand the inferior renovation of water favoured the development of greater densities of population amongst species which prefer stagnating conditions. Perhaps this could be an explanation for the colouring of the vegetation by Lepocinclis salina in the village pond of Schrems/Kottinghörmanns. High frequencies have also been observed amongst Planctomyces bekefii and Strombomonas tetraptera. Amongst the last named species the succedaneous formation of the shell was interesting and amongst Pediastrum duplex the hypotrophic development of the cells on the border. Remarkable stadis of cell-division were observed amongst Goniostomum semen and Actinastrum hantzschii. The rare Strombomonas praeliaris var. nana and Scenedesmus costato-granulatus turned out to be siderophorous organisms. New findings for the “Waldviertel”-area are: Lepocinclis ovum var. deflandriana, L. ovum var. cylindrica, L. steinii var. suecica, Phacus granum, Akanthochloris scherffellii, Scenedesmus costato-granulatus. New to science: Strombomonas ovalis fa. cingulata nova forma, Pacus trialatus n. sp.
